Humbling moments

I think one of the most complementary accolade you can get is when a student thanks you for doing your job. I am constantly overwhelmed by the desire to see my students succeed. It is very gratifying when they take the time to write a note to recognize these efforts.

Teaching online during a pandemic wasn't the easiest on any of us... I missed being in the classroom terribly. But unsolicited feedback like this makes it worthwhile:

I wanted to reach out to you to show my appreciation for the sales course you taught me this year. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher to motivate me to learn the ins and outs of sales and teach it in such an engaging way. I found myself in a sales-based practicum, and your course made me so much more comfortable entering this field of work.

Getting taught by you was the best part of my online learning experience, and I wanted you to know how much you impacted me and my career choices. ~ Kelli H. June 2021

I just wanted to say thank you for everything over the last 2 years. I know we aren't quite done but we are done the hard stuff now. You're honestly the best (teacher) I've ever had. Thank you for pushing me to my full potential and for helping all of us outside of the classroom setting by checking in with our mental health.

Out of all 14 years of schooling I feel like you showed the most care for the students and always asked how you could help us instead of just letting us struggle. I am so excited to be part of your marketing minion team and hope to showcase my skills in the future. ~ Adam R. May 2021

A former student, Amy Allen, was profiled on Uptown Saint John's website while she was on her five-week work term as she wrapped up her final year.

Name one or two people who you look to for inspiration?
I would have to say that during my recent studies with NBCC, my marketing instructor Michelle Robichaud has truly helped me to pull through some challenging times (a business plan in 5 weeks, for example!).  She has consistently pushed (shoved!) me outside of my comfort zone, so much so that it is almost a habit now, and I am incredibly thankful to her for that.

I've included below a few snippets from feedback forms that students have completed midway through the semester to provide a little more context about my teaching style.

A note from a student who graduated in 2017:
